Oral Watchdog ("we," "us," or "our") operates Oral Watchdog (the "Site"). This Privacy Policy describes how we collect, use, and share information when you visit our Site. We are a US-based operation and this policy is written for US visitors.
1. Information we collect
1.1 Information you provide
We do not currently operate a contact form, lead-capture form, or email opt-in on this Site. If you email us directly at [email protected], we receive the contents of that email and your email address. We use this only to respond to you.
1.2 Information collected automatically
When you visit the Site, our hosting platform and analytics tools automatically collect certain technical information:
| Data type | Source | Why collected |
|---|---|---|
| IP address (anonymized) | Cloudflare Pages / server logs | Security, abuse prevention |
| Browser type and version | HTTP headers | Compatibility analytics |
| Referring URL | HTTP headers | Traffic source analysis |
| Pages visited, time on page | Google Analytics 4 | Editorial performance measurement |
| Aggregate click events | GA4 event tracking | Understanding which content helps readers |
| Ad interaction data | Meta Pixel / Microsoft UET (if present) | Ad campaign measurement |
2. Cookies and tracking
We use the following cookies and tracking technologies:
- Google Analytics 4 (_ga, _ga_* cookies): First-party analytics cookies that measure site usage in aggregate. Google may process this data per its own privacy policy. You can opt out via Google Analytics Opt-out.
- Meta Pixel (if active): Tracks conversions from Facebook and Instagram ads. Data is processed by Meta Platforms. You can manage preferences at Facebook Ad Settings.
- Microsoft UET (if active): Tracks conversions from Bing/Microsoft Ads. Managed by Microsoft per its privacy policy.
- Affiliate network cookies: When you click an affiliate link on our Site, the affiliate network (e.g., ClickBank, Amazon Associates) places its own cookies on your browser to track whether you complete a purchase. We do not control these cookies. Refer to ClickBank's and Amazon's privacy policies for details.
We do not use cookies for purposes beyond analytics, advertising measurement, and affiliate attribution. We do not sell cookie-derived data.
Our Site targets US visitors only in its initial operating period. We do not serve EU/UK users by design during this phase and therefore do not present a GDPR consent banner. If we expand geographically, we will add a cookie-consent mechanism before doing so.
3. How we use information
- To understand how visitors use the Site so we can improve editorial content
- To measure the effectiveness of paid advertising campaigns
- To respond to direct inquiries sent via email
- To detect and prevent fraud or abuse
We do not use your information to send marketing emails (we have no email list connected to this Site at this time), to build individual user profiles for sale, or to engage in behavioral advertising beyond standard ad-network attribution pixels described above.
4. Information sharing
We do not sell, rent, or trade your personal information. We may share technical information with:
- Service providers: Cloudflare (hosting and CDN), Google (analytics), Meta and Microsoft (ad measurement) — each under their own data processing agreements.
- Affiliate networks: ClickBank and Amazon receive referral data (click IDs) necessary to attribute commissions. They do not receive your personal details from us.
- Legal requirements: If required by law, court order, or governmental authority, we may disclose information as required.
5. Data retention
Server log data is retained for up to 90 days. Google Analytics data is retained per the GA4 default retention setting (2 months for user-level data, 14 months for event data) unless you opt out. Email correspondence is retained for up to 2 years then deleted unless legally required to retain longer.
6. Your rights (US visitors)
Depending on your state of residence, you may have rights regarding your personal information. California residents may have rights under the CCPA/CPRA, including the right to know what data we collect, the right to delete it, and the right to opt out of sale (we do not sell data). Virginia, Colorado, and Connecticut residents have similar rights under their state privacy laws.
To exercise any of these rights, contact us at [email protected]. We will respond within 45 days.
7. Children's privacy
This Site is not directed to children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has provided us information, contact us at [email protected] and we will delete it promptly.
8. Third-party links
This Site contains affiliate links to third-party websites (including ClickBank vendor pages and Amazon product listings). Our Privacy Policy does not apply to those sites. We encourage you to review the privacy policies of any third-party site you visit.
9. Security
We use HTTPS (TLS) for all Site traffic via Cloudflare. We do not store payment card information or sensitive personal data on our own servers. No method of internet transmission is 100% secure; we cannot guarantee absolute security.
10. Changes to this policy
We may update this Privacy Policy to reflect changes in our practices or applicable law. Material changes will be noted with a new "Last updated" date at the top of this page. Continued use of the Site after changes constitutes acceptance.
